When the Tibetan lama Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche returned to Dzongsar, his monastery in eastern Tibet, he was greeted by horsemen with banners flying, musicians in processions, and thousands of people. As part of the reception ceremony, horsemen circle an immense brazier containing burning fragrant boughs which fill the air with the smoke of incense. Eastern Tibet, 2004.
