"Photographed on day 42 during the Looking for the Summer book project, this month-old Ruby Throated Hummingbird is looking to fuel up on flower nectar for the long journey to it’s wintering grounds in Mexico. Weighing just one-tenth of an ounce, this smallest bird of the Northwoods will fly more than 2000 miles south to escape Ravenwood’s long, harsh winter. In the final editing of this project, another image of a sunset over the BWCAW was chosen instead. Some days, there were just too many fine scenes to pick from. Now, I am happy to make this unseen and unpublished image available as the first in a series of special edition prints.” -Jim Brandenburg
