What happens during this event high above the earth is often explained in complicated scientific terms, but what impresses me is how powerfully it affects those who are fortunate enough to experience it. It’s one of the few things that has universal fascination and awe amongst all of those that look upon it. It is pure natural wonder and magic. At best, only a few times a year I am able to see and photograph this spectacle. This evening I was within walking distance of my home, but visual experience is so powerful at times it feels as though I can hear the boiling noise of the universe coming from it." - Jim Brandenburg
